Hungry?

As a photographer, you often run all day, ending up rushing into the next MD just to get something in your stomach. Not so if you shoot for the Gold Box Restaurant Challenge. I was invited to fly to Mackay Queensland to be part of another of their exciting events, and the food was amazing!
A feast for eyes & stomach…

On Tuesday I met with beautiful model Jenifer Gallagher, to create new images for her portfolio.
To be quick and flexible on location, I used 2 Nikon SB-900 speedlights, shooting through an umbrella.
Here are a few samples of our day of shooting…

Universal Shift

This week I had the pleasure to shoot images for the cover of Grant Hilton‘s new book “Universal Shift“.
Quote from the Back-Cover:
“If you’re wondering about where the world is heading, or where your own destiny lies, Grant Hilton can tell you. A former student of his holiness the Dalai Lama, and the youngest resort owner in Australia, Grant has been both incredibly rich and incredibly destitute. Homeless at 17, he was a millionaire by 25. At 32 he retired and sold all his material possessions. He spent the next five years studying with the Dalai Lama and Buddhist monks. Today he teaches celebrity’s, top businessmen as well as individuals how to create unlimited health, happiness and wealth in their lives.”
The book will be available in August 2009.

- I Second That!A couple of indispensable blogs were posted this week. First, John Loengard’s guest blog on Scott Kelby’s Photoshop Insider. This I would suggest as a must read for photographers and picture editors alike. Tremendous economic pressures over time have fractured and adversely affected the historic and important relationship good picture editors have with the p […]
- An Eye Popping Photoshop World!I get notions, and they stay with me. One has been, for a while now, to come up with a decent portrait of Russell Brown, the wonderfully mad genius of Photoshop. Dr. Brown, as he is sometimes called, is a visual guru who combines the madcap energy of The Absent Minded Professor with an extraordinary […]
- On LIFE, and LoengardLIFE is strange, right? And wonderful. It is, “Life Its Own Self,” as Dan Jenkins once famously wrote. I shot my first job for the venerable picture magazine that was once everybody’s TV in 1984. Became a staff photographer in 1994. Last one in a series of 90 staffers. Now, 26 years after my first […]

- How to set up a great Photoshop machineAt Photoshop World this week, performance testing lead Adam Jerugim presented a performance guide with hardware recommendations and information about the CS5 performance preferences. I’ve put his notes in this post’s extended entry. Operating Systems: Mac OS 10.6.4 and Windows 7 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i7/Xeon or AMD Phenom II/Opteron with 4 cores. More than […]
- Introducing Photoshop’s new PhotoBomb tool (parody)Heh heh. This is doubly funny as I watch this in a hotel room with the actual Bryan O’Neil Hughes. (Note: Contains some minor nudity & dirty hand gestures, in case that sort of thing offends you.) In case the embedded video doesn’t work for you, here it is on its original page.
